4 generations

Four generations!!!! Aren't we just cute!

So this weekend as you all know was when Grandma and Aunt Sherie came to Denver. We had a lot of fun. Going shopping for diapers, kite flying, and the museum are just a few of the activities we did. Grandma and Sherie even helped mow the lawn! I could not help but take pictures! I think they are too cute!

So that is all that is up with us for now. We are enjoying life and having fun.

Tonight we are going to Chipotle for our "tax" refund burrito. They gave us a fun survey to take when we went on Saturday and so we get to go back tonight. It will be a good dinner night tonight! ;o) Signing off for now

Friday the 13th...

so happy Friday the 13th! I hope things are going well with all of you. So far things are well here. Grandma and Aunt Sherie made it safely on Wednesday. They had a bumpy flight, but not too bad. I am just glad they came! We love having them and "playing" with them. It is a nice change in the scenery of the everyday mundane!

So last night Bryan and I had the opportunity to go back up to Fort Collins and see the musical Aida with his parents! It was quite the fun show. And knowing the music made it even better. Bryan saw the musical once before his mission and has loved it ever since. Now I can say that I have seen it too! If anyone ever has the chance to see it I would HIGHLY recommend it. A great musical and great songs! The actors were incredible too. It makes us that more excited to see "Wicked" in may.

Today I took Bryan's car, the passat, into get new tires and have a noise that it is making checked out. Hopefully it is something not too bad! We already replaced the transmission in my car and knew that we needed new tired on it. Now his needs new tires and something having to do with the wheel bearings. OUCH! there goes our tax refund!

We are going to go to the Benjamin Franklin exhibit today! We are excited to learn all about him and just to spend the day with the fam. So that is it for now...

Grandma coming

So today is when Grandma and Aunt Sherie fly into Denver today. I know Grandma is VERY nervous to fly and so we will have to see how it goes for her. I know she will do fine, but we will have to report tomorrow.

We have a busy day ahead of us due to them coming and spending time with them. Friday we're going to go to the museum for a Ben Franklin display. Bryan even gets to go because it is on Friday afternoon. I know he is excited about it too!

So that is all for now...just a brief hello.
And a cute pic!

a fun Easter weekend

So we made it to Utah and back all safely! The plane ride with Kambria was good. Not too bumpy and she did wonderful! However I would recommend a tired baby instead of a baby full of energy. Kambria was great, a little restless at times, but great. It was her first plane ride at 7 months old.

Thursday we got in at 10:30 pm and grandma and Sherie picked us up. We stayed up until 12:30ish and it was wonderful to have Kambria meet her great Aunt and Great grandma!

Friday we woke up early and had stuffed French Toast. It was incredibly good, filling, but good! And then we met Michele and her two daughters, KaLisi and Alyson, and Michele's sister Jen. Kristy and Alden were there too. We had a good time. It was fun to reminisce about old times and have decided we REALLY want to do a Ricks college reunion this summer! Then that afternoon we met our friends Travis and Shelby with their son Parker at the Joseph Smith building to see the new movie there. Sherie and Brady came too! It was wonderful and made me want to share the gospel with everyone I meet! Was a great experience it was. Only little blip was that we thought we would enjoy the movie better if we left Kambria with Grandma Jetta. So we did. The we got to the theater and remembered that Travis and Shelby wanted to see Kambria. WHOOPS! So we had them come back to grandma's house and we sat and chatted for a while. Then since it was Sherie's birthday we took them out to Cafe Rio. It was fun! What a day!

Saturday we woke up a little later than on Friday. We ran to Seagull Book to get the new movie out called the Testaments. We bought one for mom and dad, Bryan and I and Nelson and Leah.
Then we went to deseret and bought Sherie a little willow figurine. She loved it and it made her cry!

Then we had Brady drive us up to Provo where we got to see his apartment and computer/TV setup! Man has he got the system thing going good!!! It was fun to chat with him for a while too. Then he took us to Lisa and Erik's house where we got to meet Madalyn and hold her! She is SOOO small! You just forget how small new babies are. And none the less she is 6 weeks old now. I can only imagine how small she was 6 weeks ago! We then went to a park in Provo canyon and had a little picnic! It was such a nice day. not too hot but warm enough to suntan! We played Frisbee and threw the football around. Then we took pictures, of course, and drove back. Before we got home we decided that we should stop and get the HUGE ice cream cone at Macy's grocery store. They were great but REALLY big and they old cost a buck! it was awesome! We had hamburgers for dinner on Eric's new birthday grill and played games. An end to a great day.

Sunday was Easter and Madalyn blessing! The dress was a little big on her, but it was beautiful. Everyone was amazed that I could do something like that. It was a lot of fun to see the shock on the families faces! It was worth it! We then went to Erik's mom, Bjorg's house. We had a wonderful Easter dinner. Then off to the airport with Scott and Jacqueline.

The airport was fine, except on the way over our bag was BARELY 50lbs and so we decided to rearrange some things. We put Bryan's hair supply bag on the carry on. Only we forgot that no Liquids or gels over 3 oz could be on the plane. So I had to wait by security while Bryan went back and checked the bag. It turned out fine, but just a little sidetrack.

So that was our weekend in a nut shell. Great times and fun memories were made. Glad I am home though!

And then Grandma Jetta and Sherie will be her on Wednesday! YEAH!!!

Finally moved!

So this past Friday we FINALLY got all our things moved into the storage shed. Don, Bryan's dad, was quite surprised at how we arrange everything so that we had PLENTY of space for all our stuff. I am sure glad that we don't have a couch or big things like that that we have to store. Although they would have fit, but it would ave been such a pain! Small boxes make it easier. One day when we have our "own" little house or apartment again, it will be interesting to see all of our things not in boxes. They have been that way fro about 8 months now. Man time flies!

So this week I am frantically working on Madalyn's blessing dress. We fly out this Thursday to Utah, which means I had better get going on it. And yes as promised I will post a picture when it is complete.

Another quick thought...if you have the chance to see the movie, "Meet the Robinsons" I would highly suggest it! It has WONDERFUL morals and despite all the bad reviews, Bryan and I enjoyed seeing it. We did see it in 3-D but we bought cheap tickets through our grocery store King Soopers and then only had to pay $1.50 upgrade instead of the $2.50 usual price. We are cheap skates, but that is how you save money huh? I would suggest that route. Instead of paying the 9.50 per ticket you only pay 6.00 per ticket! What a deal. It was date day for us!

Well off to work on the dress.

Different weekend than expected

So we did not move out stuff this weekend! It poured rain ALL day on Saturday! And usually you would be able to still move some stuff wen it is raining, but I thought that if anything got wet and then you put it in storage it would mold and ruin things...so no moving happened. We got the storage unit, but don't get charged until April 1st so that is nice. So we hope that the weather will cooperate this up coming Friday. We would move on Saturday but it is general conference and did not want to do that, just in case anyone who was helping us wanted to watch or listen!

So we just played up in fort Collins instead. We went and looked at some new model homes! They were so much fun to look at and dream! They are REALLY good prices for the amount of home you get.Too bad we are not in the market for a house right now. We would definitely look into buying a house in this part of town! There was one house we fell in LOVE with. It was about 2700 square feet not including the unfinished basement. And the price was $280,000. But it was GORGEOUS!!! Bryan and I want to go back sometime soon and take pictures of the decorating so we wont forget what we liked when it does come time for us to look into buying a house. One day it will happened...we are determined. So for now we were just dreaming!

And then on Sunday we had a VERY long day. We were at the church building from 9am to about 5pm..yes we had lunch/dinner in between but we went to the bishops house for it and then went back to the church for choir practice....so the point of telling this is to say Kambria did not get her morning nap due to it being too entertaining at church and then she did not get her afternoon nap...and she was a GRUMP! And then on top of that because she was so tired she had a very rough night... Which makes a rough night for me too. So today she is sleeping!!!! I put her down for her afternoon nap around 12:30 and I HOPE she does not wake up for quite a while... I might even consider taking a nap here soon. Yep I think I will head that way. Until next time!

This weekend...

So this weekend we are going to be moving again! No not to another location for us, but another location for our STUFF! We are moving all of our stuff that is still in boxes to a storage shed instead of in my in-laws garage. We decided it would be best to give them back their garage for the summer. So we are going up to Fort Collins today and thinking about what we want to have come down to Denver and then the rest goes into a storage shed. We will still have access to it, just it will not be as accessible as it has been. But I think it is for the best. Then all my stuff will be in "one" place again. I have some stuff still in my in laws house from living there before and this way it will go back into boxes and be all together!

So Grandma Fairbanks, MaryEllen, or Bryan's mom as I call her, is finally coming home this weekend from being in Utah since Madalyn was born. It has been about 4 weeks. I know Don is excited to have is wife back and Amanda is excited to have some good home cooked meals again! and Kambria will get to see her other grandma too! She will look so big compared to Madalyn. TI will be fun!

So that is all I have for now. Until later...

Nothing much...

So i have not posted in almost a week because not much has happened here lately. The only thing much exciting is that spring is finally here and Bryan and I went and flew a kite on Friday. It was just a nice breeze when we started and then it turned into a BIG gust of wind that took the kite out of Bryan's hand and he had to go chasing it. It was quite a site seeing a man chasing after a kite. I was laughing and I know Bryan was too.

We also took pictures of our family again since Kambria and I were matching...no I did not plan it I PROMISE and Bryan happened to be dressed in blue for a boy. I thought it was cute and could not resist!

Then Saturday we FINALLY got our GPS system that we had tried to get for Christmas. To make a LONG story short, basically we had to purchase several before we could find one that was in stock and not a fraudulent website. Don't worry we only actually paid for one gps...that is one good reason to buy things off the Internet with a credit card. They refund things if they are fraudulent. It might take a couple of months, but it does work!

So Bryan has been playing with this GPS system for two days now and has taken it on every car trip we have taken. I was going to play with it today, but he wanted to take it with him in the car to work. I told him he could not look at it unless he was stopped or at work in the parking lot. He promised me he wouldn't look unless stopped somewhere. I hope he kept his promise.

We already went on a Geo cache on Saturdays. It was a lot of fun and I think this will make us both more active especially since it is spring now! We just have to learn all the quirks and such with it. I think Bryan is hoping he can talk to Leah or Nelson about it since they were our inspiration for getting one. It only took us 2 years though. We originally went on a hike with the family about two years ago with them and we had a lot of fun. Thanks guys!

so that is my ramblings for now... here is a picture of what the GPS looks like

Jon Schmidt concert

This weekend we went up to Fort Collins to visit grandpa Fairbanks, since grandma is still is Provo with the new mom Lisa. We also were persuaded to go because Jon Schmidt was playing a concert in Greeley and we had Don get us tickets. It was A LOT of fun. If anyone ever has the chance to see him in concert I would definitely recommend going. He had audience participation where someone even came up and played the piano with him and also beat-boxed while Jon played. He played with his toes, and played upside down on his back! It was truly amazing. So that is what we did on Saturday night.

Then on Sunday, it was the church thing and then we made dinner for Amanda and Don. Amanda was complaining that she has not had a "real" meal since her mom went to Utah to help with the baby. Maybe now she doesn't take her mom for granted. We didn't make anything fancy, just salmon in he oven with rice and steamed veggies. When Don saw how we did this, he was amazed at how easy it was and thought, "I can do that." So he told Amanda they could have that again sometime this week. I don't think she would mind either. We had some good laughs together all abut Bryan and Amanda's childhood memories. It was a good time.

Then we brought the crib and Bryan's clavinova piano down to Denver. Today is the task of getting them both put together and where we want them. I think it will be good fun!!!

Until next time...

6 month photos

So I wanted to get Kambria's photos done every three months for her first year. We spent WAY to much money on her 3 month ones and so I decided I was going to just do something cheap. So I see this advertisement for Walmart where you get 36 photos from one pose for only 4.88. Walmart saves the day...so I thought. Well I had plans to get the pictures taken on Monday...That did not happen because I got too busy doing other things and then Kambria fell asleep on me. I did not want sleeping pictures. So I planned on Tuesday. Then I got sick and did not feel good all day. Then I decided Wednesday I was going to get them done because she is only 6 months for so long and I was already procrastinating enough. So on Wednesday we went to good old Walmart photography. We just walked in...I should have made an appointment. We waited for a half an hour for this little boy to smile when all he did was scream at his VERY young mother. I think she was just a friend of the Walmart worker.

So we finally get in there and go figure, it is a BRAND NEW Walmart store, but the table that you put your kids on to sit on was made of green grass colored carpet with a HUGE rip it the middle of it. So i figure well she is just sitting on it anyway. So we start to try and make Kambria laugh and smile...which is kind of easy when you just clap your hands together right now. The lady did not take but three photos when I realized SHE DID NOT KNOW WHAT SHE WAS DOING!! She couldn't have been more than 18 years old. So then I realize that you have to pick a picture when it is taken and accept it for the 4.88 pose. you don't get to see all of them and THEN choose!!!! I was so frustrated that I said yes to one where I thought it was ok. Then the Walmart worker proceeds to try and take more pictures on DUMB backgrounds. One of them I am sure was supposed to be fairytale-ish. But there were HUGE mushrooms right by Kambria's head. UGH. Then comes this "spring background" that was hideous too. So I said, " lets just stick with the black background." So she takes a couple more and I HAD it! I said that is enough. Can I change the 4.88 pose to this one instead of the first one? NO she states. You have to stick with the first one. BUT I will give you some free pictures of the one you like.

So I ended up getting basically two "4.88" poses for the price of one. It was very nice of her, but I think she did it because she could see I was VERY frustrated with their setup! So I ended up getting a couple good 6 month photos and vowed NEVER again will I go to that Walmart...at least until I have seen the employees working the photography store and how they work with kids. AGH.

But at last I can say I have her 6 month photos done.

IT IS FINALLY FINAL. April 8th it is!!! here we come Utah!

Well change has come around again..the blessing is now FOR SURE Easter weekend. So it is April 8th. I am so glad. this way I can do all the things I wanted to do here in Denver AND go to Utah to see the blessing.

So i am sick today and not feeling well so I am going back to bed. Thought I would juts correct the corrected. We have bought our tickets and so it is final!

Until next time...Hopefully I feel better!

Decided...

So we found out that we are going to go to Utah April 27-29. This is the weekend BYU graduates and so that is the weekend they are going to bless Madalyn. I think it will will work out fine. At first I was a little distraught because that weekend my friend from Rick's college, Jackie Brown is going to be in Denver as well as it is our stake relief society retreat as well as my sister's junior prom. Now regularly a junior prom would not be so important, but my sister is graduating early next year and so this is her only chance for prom. So I am still a little upset about not getting to see her all dressed up, but I think it will still be OK. And Jackie has said she will still be in town on Monday so I can still see her, it will even be her birthday that day, and the relief society retreat will be OK to miss....although I would have liked to go.

So We will stop and see my Grandma and aunt Sherie as well as see Brady and hopefully his apartment. I would like to see all the work he has done painting walls and decorating! I am excited. It should be fun!

So that is all for now!

not going...

So Bryan talked to his sister Lisa yesterday and she is doing fine. Madalyn had too high of Billiruben so she had to be under lights before they let her go home yesterday. But things went well and she got to go home! However, Lisa was told by MaryEllen, Bryan and Lisa's mom, that she was to tell us that we CAN NOT come out to visit this weekend! The weather is too bad and she does not want us to risk bringing Kambria over. So we have looked at things and are going to think things over, but tentatively we have decided to fly to Utah the weekend that Madalyn is going to be blessed. That way we can have more time with the family too. We think this will be April 8, which I believe is Easter too! We shall see....

And I will post pictures of the blessing dress when I am finished! Thanks for your interest in it Heather! It always makes me feel good to know someone cares!

The newest addition...

so this is the cute addition to the family. I do think she looks more like Erik, her Dad, than Lisa, her mom. But I am jealous that she has so much hair!!! Her name is Madalyn Marie and she was born Feb 26 at 3:30 am. She weighed 6 lbs. and was 19 inches long. She was over a month early but both mom and baby are doing well. We are planning on going to visit them in Utah this weekend. We just hope the weather is nice enough to go! And then we can visit Grandma and Sherie and Brady too! Grandma and Sherie still have not seen Kambria yet except in pictures. So pray for good weather!

I better get going on the baby blessing dress I told Lisa I would make for Madalyn. I went and bought the fabric yesterday and I should start on it today. That is my goal.

Monday, February 26, 2007

WOW...

So this weekend we did nothing, but it felt like we did everything. Friday we ran around and did errands all day, and Saturday we did the same. I mopped the kitchen floor, while Bryan and my dad went to Auto Zone to get his car some new spark plugs and then came home fixed it and then went back to Auto Zone to have them reset the computer. I guess to reset the computer in the car you are supposed to take it to the dealership, but Auto Zone was nice enough to reset it for us, even though they were not supposed to. Did I mention that my car is getting a new transmission in it? Yeah it is going to cost about 2 grand to have it fixed but the car it worth more than that and we could not get a car like mine for that amount of money. So we decided to go ahead with it. I have not had a car for over a week now. It is OK, but I am starting to get stir crazy. I even walked about a mile to the store and a mile back, just so I could get out of the house. I do not know how people do it with only one car. It is doable, but in the winter time I would not want to have to do it. At least it has been sunny here the past couple of days.

Then Saturday night we had my friend Dre and her husband over for dinner. Dre lived with my parents for a couple of months after she graduated college in December of 05. They had not met her husband. They only got married this past November. They are cute together and he makes her happy. It is good to see her happy! I wish they could have stayed longer and that we could have chatted more, but that is the way life goes...FAST!!

We watched the Prestige with them and if you have not seen this movie I would suggest you find it and watch it. An then watch it again! The second time was MUCH better and I understood a lot more of the movie! It is a GREAT movie and I think Bryan might even go out and buy it!

Then Sunday was a FAST day too. Bryan and I both had to give lessons. Mine was in YW and his was in Elders quorum. So my mother got to watch Kambria. I do not know what we would do without my family being around at church. It would be hard to have to teach holding a baby in your arms. Then we both had to give talks in Sacrament meeting too. it was on the topic of symbols within the church. It was a hard subject for me to talk about. Not your typical fasting, prayer, or even repentance talks. But it was good for both of us and I am GLAD it is done!

So on to the title of my post...Bryan got a phone call from his dad about 7pm last night that his sister Lisa's water broke!!!! So Bryan did not get the message until about 9pm so when he called his dad back they were just leaving their house to drive to Provo. She is about a month early, which is kind of scary. Bryan sent Lisa's phone a text message saying good luck and that she is in our prayers. She texted him back about 12am this morning that she was dilated to a 9 already and that it is crazy she is going to be a mom! We are excited for her. It is a little girl and they had the named Madalyn picked out. So Good Luck Lisa and we look forward to hearing more of the story!!!

Cute baby

So this is the second post of the day, BUT I had to post some most cute pics of Kambria. The wedding info is below.

wedding...

So this weekend was fun and I am glad it is over! Friday night was the family dinner which turned out well. Then Saturday morning we headed to the temple and witness the sealing of Scott and Jacqueline. That was beautiful. Jacqueline was gorgeous! She is one pretty lady. Her colors were ho pink and black. Which I thought was a little different, but it turned out WONDERFUL! And I have to admit that I thought Kambria was the cutest baby there! I did make her dress and people were amazed by that. Even to the fact that Lisa, Bryan's pregnant sister, told me I could make her baby's blessing dress. I had wanted to ask her if I could make i, but was worried that she would not want me to do it yet would not tell me no since she didn't want to hurt my feelings. But that comment of, "WOW!!, you can make my baby's blessing dress if you want and I will pay you." made me really HAPPY!!!

Then we had the reception Saturday night. It was a sit down formal dinner and turned out wonderful! I think that is the way to go if you have the funds to pay for it. But I do have to admit that Bryan and I got a TON more presents that they did, but that is one downfall of only being able to invite a select number of people for a sit down dinner!

So here are some pics of the wedding. Enjoy.

What a wonderful day...

So Valentines day turned out good. I spent most of the day decorating and preparing food for our fondue. My parents and Tess joined us, however due to inclement weather it took Bryan 2 hours to get home. So we did not start eating dinner until about 7pm!!! And then on top of that we could not get the bullion to stay hot enough to cook the food fast enough. I think if we are to do it again, I would have one pot per 2 people. That way it is guaranteed to stay hot enough! But it was fun and definitely an experience! A memory maker!

Bryan's coat was returned and it turned out OK, except for taking 2 hours to get home, when usually it is about 45 minutes! Poor guy! Hopefully tonight is better since we have to make it to the temple by 6 for Jacqueline's endowment session! We are REALLY excited for her and this weekend. Bryan and I will spend the next 4 days with his family and doing wedding stuff and just having a good time! So I may not post until after the weekend. We will have to see.

So that is the plan for today.

Happy V-day!

So today is valentines day and I sure hope the end turns out better than last night. It seems like everything went wrong. Kambria was NOT happy, I burned the potatoes, and the house STILL smells like burned food this morning, and Bryan's coat was taken by mistake and it had his car keys and wallet in it. Well the coat was returned and hopefully everything works out this morning for him. I should hear later this morning....
"
But today has been good so far. I got up at 2 am with Kambria and then put out 12 roses for Bryan so he could see them before he left for work at 5:15 this morning. He was VERY surprised and in a better mood. That Was my plan. Then I got up at 7:30 and "temporarily" got ready and took my car into the shop to find out what is wrong with it. Hopefully it is not the transmission!!!! Then I am at home planning on working out and then REALLY getting ready for the day. I have to some what hurry so I can figure EVERYTHING out for the fondue meal tonight! I am excited and hope that it all works out!

Well Happy V-Day and hope all goes well...

6 weird things about me for my friend Heather...

1. I like to have the toilet paper going over instead of under. I usually change it if it is the wrong way

2. I like to organize things and reorganize them. Sometimes I get so crazy with organizing that it seems like that is all I do...Kambria's changing table has been reorganized probably 10+ times in the last couple weeks. This however does not mean that I am organized!!!!

3. I cant stand the smell of orange fragrance spray. I was throwing up when I smelled it being pregnant with Kambria and now I gag when I smell it.

4. I like to have my clothes separated into colors and whites right after you take the clothes off before you put them in the dirty clothes. That way I don't have to sort when wanting to do laundry. It is already done!

5. I am NOT a phone person. I like email a LOT better. I usually don't call people back and would rather email or see them face to face. Michele Griggs can testify to this one. Sorry Michele, I do think about you!!!!

6. I HATE stacks of paper! I go through them and throw stuff away when they have been there for more than a couple of days. Sometimes I throw stuff away I am not supposed to and regret it the next day. I think this has to do with my organization thing.

That is what I can come up with. Hopefully it works for you Heather.

Now I tag Kristy,Leah and Brady. Come up with 6 of your own weird things to share!

just having fun...

Well this was the first weekend that Bryan had since he started his new job. so he had Friday Saturday and Sunday off. It was WONDERFUL!!! Although Friday felt like Saturday and so I was a little thrown off. But wonderful. I know that soon he will have to have volunteer hours on Friday to get experience in the prosthetics field, so i am enjoying it now.

Kambria is growing like a weed. She was a little pill this weekend. We think she is starting to get her first tooth/ teeth in. She would cry for now reason and after we gave her Tylenol she was good for about 4 hours. So we hope that is what it is and nothing else more serious. We can not feel any teeth but my mother thinks it is teeth so I have confidence that is what it is...

nothing else too exciting yet. This weekend Scott, Bryan's younger brother is getting married so I am sure I will have many stories and pictures. He is marrying Jacqueline who he dated in high school. She is convert to the church and so the wedding reception is a little different that us Mormons are used to. they are having a sit down dinner instead of a calling reception. Bryan is a groomsman and so will be sitting at the head table. So I will be sitting alone...Hopefully Kambria is good and lets me sit down. We shall see how it goes. Jacqueline has picked hot pink and black for her colors and so I made Kambria a little hot pink and black dress. I will post pictures next week.

These pics will have to do for now! What a cutie!
Sitting up! she is now an expert!
The cats are interested in something on their level!
Kambria standing up...of course just for a short minute! she is only 5 months!

Dont you get bored?

This is the question that my sister asked me the other day since now I just stay at home all day! Wow she just doesn't quite understand what taking care of a kid entails. I think that she just has the idea that babysitting is what it is like. Well to answer her question, no I do not get bored. There are days that I get more done than others, and no I will not get up and going at 6:30 Dad. Although he did apologize for the comment that I should get up that early. Apology accepted. I have always been told to sleep when you child sleeps and to enjoy the "easy" time while I can. That is what I am doing. I will only have one child once. It only gets more hectic form here on out.

So no I do not get bored and yes I am enjoying my "laziness" as some would put it.

On another thought. I loved hearing about my friend Heather's weekend with her young women. I would LOVE to know what else you have done. Since now being called to YW again, I need some ideas of how to connect to these girls. A lot of them have some pretty rough lives and are not to open to getting close to people. Especially leaders. So if anyone has any ideas, I would love to hear about them.

So those are the thoughts for the day.
until next time

a New day

So it has been about a week since I wrote anything. This is due to finally moving in with my family in Denver and having Bryan home for a week. He wanted to do Fun things and so sitting on the computer was not an option. So this week i should be back up to par on my blogging since Bryan started his new job today. We shall see how it goes. He will be cutting up dead peoples bones. I know I know a DEFINITE conversation starter when someone asks what do you do for a living.? His is working for a company called Allosource which takes allo graphs of skin and bone tissue to use in operations instead of metal or synthetic things. This way you can have bone and actual tissue for operations! It is a great learning situation for Bryan and I know he is excited.

So being in a new ward you get new callings...at least we did. However the ward does not technically even have our records yet...but the stake and ward presidencies didn't seem to mind. Bryan is second counselor in the Elders quorum and I am second counselor in the YW. We both just came from these organizations in Fort Collins. I was second counselor in YW and Bryan was Elders quorum secretary. I guess the Lord was just preparing us in Fort Collins to work much goodness here in Denver. there is MUCH more opportunity to serve here since there are fewer people and many more people who are converts and need all the help they can get. I am excited to work with this group of girls... My sister Tess included. It is a little bit different in the sense that all the girls meet together ALWAYS since there is not enough girls to split into age groups. So it will be a little while before I get the hang of how they do things.

Bryan is working with a guy named Jon Daniel who is from Africa and hopes to return there one day. It will be a teaching experience for him so he can be a leader once he goes back to Africa. So the stake president told Bryan to teach Jon Daniel all he knows and help him as much as he can. So I know things will be good. We have even met a few young couples that we think will turn out to be good friends! We are excited!!!!

That is all the is happening around here...hope its good in your neck of the woods...as Al Roker would say!

A fun time

So since Bryan got his job we decided to celebrate and take ourselves to Melting Pot. It is a VERY expensive fondue experience. It was a one time thing, unless we become rich! We had a wonderful time and I took notes about all the things we were eating and all the different sauces. Of course when we do our on fondue at home I am sure it will not be the same, but I can at least try! We have done fondue on Valentines day for the last 3 years. This year we kind of forgot about it, but have decided to do it with my family if they are up to it. I have to mentioned it to them, but I think it would be fun to try. So fam...if you are up to it, lets plan!

Also, if any of you are looking for some fun games to try I have a few suggestions. We LOVE playing this game we got for Christmas called Carcassone. If you have played Settlers of Catan before it is similar yet oh so different. You can play it with 2 people and so Bryan and I play it ALL the time. We enjoy playing it rather than watching the TV. Although American Idol will ALWAYS be worth watching. We have been hooked on it for 3 years now too.

Another game we have found fun to play is A Ticket to Ride. That is fun to play with 2 people too. Even though we have lived with Bryan's family and are now going to be living with my family, we have been looking for games that can be played with only 2 people. These are the ones we have come up with so far. We also enjoy Rummikub. Just in case some of you are looking for some games to play just the 2 of you also.

Until later...

Cookies

Sorry, I told Brady we would post some pictures of our Andes Mint cookies we made on Sunday while at my parents house...so here are the pics. They are quite the good and EASY cookie to make. We just bought the package and followed the recipe on the back. So Brady if you would like to try you can follow suit. But I know that you can make much better things. We just had to share.

At least it is a story...

So this past weekend we brought Gracie and Gus-Gus, our cats, down to Denver. We put them in the basement and let them smell everything for a day. We decided to introduce them to my parents cat Minnie Saturday late afternoon. BIG mistake~!!!

It ended up a catastrophe. Gus got scared and then that scared Minnie and so she charged him, and even though I had Gus by the neck he turned on me and BIT me on the arm. I did not think much of it other than it hurt. It did not even bleed that much. I cleaned it out with Hydrogen-Peroxide and put neosporine and put a bandage on it. Then Sunday morning I woke up to a red puffy arm and a red streak going up the underside of my arm and so my mother made me go to Urgent care. It ended up being pretty infected and worse than I originally thought so I had to be given penicillin through an IV and given a brace for my arm so that it would prevent me from using my arm and having the infection spread. Then the doc told me to come back at 6:30 that night for another dose. So I left the urgent care with an IV line in one arm and a brace on the other. I went back at 6:30 for another dose through the IV and then the doc said he wanted me to come back in again the next morning so he left the IV line in and told me to continue to wear the brace. So I slept with the brace and the IV line and then went in again this morning. I was told to go fill a prescription and stay on that for 10 days. SO I could have slept WITHOUT the IV, but oh well...

So a simple cat bite turned into a 35 dollar pain in the BUTT!!!---$25 for the copay for Urgent care and $10 for the perscription...so I guess it could have been a lot worse if not for insurance. Heres my plug for insurance...it is worth it! I guess it is a story and a lesson learned NOT to introduce cats too early and if and when you do introduce them...have protective gear and or a harness for the cat!

So we have decided to just keep Gus and Gracie in the basement until they are comfortable again and maybe introduce the cats in a month or so...we will see how it goes.

notice the blue markings drawn on my left arm...it was the outline of the infection...

The other news is that we went to the national western stock show this weekend too. I liked the rodeo and it brought back many memories of Billy Wall and Kristy and our fun times at those rodeos watching Seth and Billy. It was fun to see the animals too, but my favorite part was the monkey cowboy who rides a dog! His name is Whiplash the cowboy monkey. I will try to put the video on here. But it was HILARIOUS!!!!

So the last exciting news for the day...Bryan was offered a job at Allosource pending a drug test and references. He interviewed for it today and on the drive back up to Fort Collins, they called and said they would offer him the job. We are VERY excited. This makes the transition to Denver a little bit easier in the sense that Bryan does not have to feel all the pressure and stress of trying to find a job. This way he can still explore career decisions that he wants to while working full-time. He will work 10 hour shifts 4 days a week and have every Friday off. Kambria and I like that idea...and that way Bryan can get some volunteer hours in also for prosthetics/ and or nursing. I am so THANKFUL and have to say thanks for all those of you out there who were praying for him! Prayers are answered and we are very grateful to you all.

Until next time, ...

Kambria's first solid foods

So Kambria has been waking up a LOT more lately and so we decided last Saturday that we would start feeding her solid foods. Boy do her diapers reflect it! They STINK!! so we had to go out and purchase a diaper genie so it would not smell up the basement so much.

But it sure has been fun to feed her and watch how excited she is about it. These are some of the pictures that we took. Kambria is SO interested in the table and anything we are eating. I feel like I cant feed her fast enough. She is just eating Barley cereal since her digestive system is not really regular in how often she has dirty diapers. And since rice cereal makes you constipated the doc said to feed her barley first...like I said her diapers stink and she i more regular than she has ever been!!!

On a new subject, we are moving our two cats down to Denver this weekend so that they can stay with my parents and then we wont have to move them next weekend when we move our other stuff. I am not sure how Gracie will be at the move. We are going to move them just in a box with slits for air this time instead of Meeko's carrier. Meeko is Bryan's parents dog. And last time we moved them to their house from our apartment, which was only a 15 minute car ride, Gracie pooped and peed all over herself because she was so freaked out. So we are hoping that the boxes will not freak her out so much. I put them out last night and she has already slept and played in the boxes. So we have high hopes this time. Although the car ride is about an hour and some...we shall see. Until next time

Finally

So I finally feel like my life is moving forward. Bryan and I have had a serious talk about our future plans and he has engaged! He is looking into nursing schools thinking he might want to do that, as well as trying to get a job at Allosource and also looking into getting volunteer hours in the prosthetics field. I know that he does not really know what he wants to do with his career or near future, but it a step closer for me. I just feel like we have been lacking in the forward movement. And now I have some movement.

I do have to admit that there have been MANY prayers and thoughts on our behalf lately and I want to thank all those people out there! THANKS!!! I know each person has their own problems, but I feel like we have been EXTREMELY blessed with friends and family who have a concern in our little "problems."

So the count down for moving has begun for me. It is less than 2 weeks and frankly I cant wait!!! I am very excited! I know that Bryan is not as excited as me, but I think it will improve EVERYTHING for us! If he gets this job at allosource he will be making more money than he currently is and he will only be working 4 ten hour days. I think he will enjoy that more. And I will be happier, not that I am not happy, but I think being with my own family will improve my "happiness" times. I also think that it will be good for my family to have us around too. I know my mother is thrilled. I have high hopes for the next little while.

I am trying to start/ continue working towards my goals. This has been a little difficult as of lately and it has only truthfully been one week. What a pathetic goal getter I am!!! At least I am trying I guess. I shouldn't get too discouraged!

Well I feel like I am rambling now...but I do have to say thanks for posting FINALLY Brady. And I know what you mean...don't get too discouraged. Just continue moving forward. You are in our prayers and thoughts too! Love you!

Good advice

So my friend Heather from Ricks College wrote this little piece of advice on her blog that she got from her mother in law and I thought it was so true that I'm using it too... thanks Heather!

Life is hard. Marriage is hard. Family life is hard. And all for a purpose. Not one of us is at home on this planet; we are all away at school. In speaking of the plan of salvation, mortality, the second estate, is often referred to as the second act. It is a fact that living happily ever after is never written into the second act of plays, but rather it is reserved for the third act. The third act in this play is eternal life, where we will live happy ever after, if, during this life, we endure to the end in gcheer. Being of good cheer is a virtue. Cheerfulness is a condition, more of the mind than of circumstance, and is worthy of cultivation. Mothers who are of good cheer impart courage, confidence, optimism, hope, and faith in the Lord to their husbands and children. Cheerful mothers draw family members to them. The entire family tends to thrive in an environment that is both spiritually and temporally cheerful.

This is just so true...and I say this at a time in my life when it feels like the second act is not going as I want. Well that is not true..it is just going a little slower than I want, but happiness is a journey not a destination. I am very excited to see how the next few months come out and how our attitudes reflect our actions.

Kambria got her 4 month shots two days ago, even though she is almost 5 months, and got her first fever. We kept on top of tylenol and everything turned out fine. I can see how mothers get so worried. Here is this little person who doesn't know what is going on with their body, and all they know is tthey don't feel good. And it is up to the mother to make them feel better. Poor things! But all is well thus far. Thank goodness for modern medicine!

Until next time...

The new years goals...

So last night for our family's FHE we sat down and set some goals. There were personal goals, financial goals, family goals, and spiritual goals. Some of my personal goals have to do with weight loss, which is pretty common for the new years, but I also decided that I would like to do more reading. I am not much of a reader because it is difficult for me to read since I have dislexia, but also I feel like my education is dropping since being a stay at home mom and not doing anything but playing with a little baby. So I decided to plan on reading a novel. I gave myself the goal of just one, but I can read more too. I just wanted to make my goals attainable. We also set family plans liking planning and taking a family vacation other than Utah, since we have not ever gone a vacation since we have been married. I do not care where it is too, just somewhere together.

So that is what is going on here. Also, for those of you who have asked, Bryan did not get into the program he was wanting, but we are still moving to Denver so he can start the volunteering of finding a job within the area he would like to go...Healthcare. We still have a lot of options to look at and talk about, but it is s start. I think it is time to move on to new things...Denver rather than Fort Collins! I am excited and thrilled to live with my family. January 27 is the big day!
Until next time.

Back to normal life...For a while

So things are coming back to normal, now that Bryan's family has gone back to Utah and Bryan has been back to work. Bryan's birthday was yesterday and we had a lot of fun, at least I did, giving him his presents. He always says that he gets jipped because his birthday is so close to Christmas. This year I think was a good job of him not feeling jipped. He got expensive tickets to see the musical Wicked when it comes to Denver in May. He also got the CD of the wicked music so he could learn the songs before we go. He got the piano music to wicked and to Aida which is another musical that is coming to Fort Collins in April. We are planning to go to that one too. His brother Scott gave him a gift certificate to best buy and his sister gave him a certificate to inta juice which is like smoothies. He also got a pair of jeans from his "dad"...I should tell you it really was his mother who got them, but that is the way it works. I think he was impressed! He should have been. It was also my sister-in-laws birthday yesterday. We are going down on
Jan 20 to celebrate with them and my brother Colin since his birthday is January 9. Hopefully Leah had a good day yesterday too!
So to the title of this post...I know now that life will be "normal" until I move to my parents house come January 27th. Since we will be going down to Denver on Jan 20, we will move half our stuff then and then the rest down on the 27th. We, I should say I, am excited to move to Denver. Bryan is ok with it and understands that it is my turn to be with my family. He is a little worried as I was when we moved into his parents because it is the unknown that makes us fear.
so that is when life will not be "normal" to him anymore. Hopefully it will not take him long to feel normal again. We just have to find him a job and find it fast. He will be WAY too bored if he doesn't have anything to "do" on a time basis. If that makes any sense. So that is what the Fairbanks' are up to for now. Until next time...

the snow

So the pics are here

Well, today Bryan went back to work and his family are doing their own things so I figured I would come and post the pictures I have been promising for a while now...No one hurt my feeling by saying I need to post. I am glad people remind me! ;o)

So the gingerbread houses were a LOT more work than I EVER anticipated. It took us 3 days to complete them and when it came down to it, we became very bored of decorating after about an hour. So this is the finfished product. I would recommend just buying a kit for 10 dollars! Muh easier and just as fun.

We have had a major blizzard storm the last week. These pictures are from the first storm that gave us about 3 feet of snow. Bryan's work was cancelled along with the rest of the city shutting down too! A lot of people were stuck at the airport for christmas. Glad I was not flying anywhere! It was fun to be snowed in, but now there is another storm that has hit. It has given us about another 6 inches, but it is supposed to continue to snow through Sunday. Denver has shut down since they got about another foot to foot and a half last night. My mother is tired of being snowed in. But at least it is good for family ties and fun huh? I sometimes just wish I was at my families house instead of Bryan's. I just get lonesome for them. But that will come in about a month!!!! YEAH!!! I think my mother is REALLY excited to have us move in with them and have her granddaughter closer. She gets lonesome for adult girl conversations sometimes...and I love getting to oblige her and have them with her!

The next pictures are of Kambria's first sledding experience. Bryan's family went up to beaver ridge meadows and we all went sledding. Kambria stayed indoors most of the time with Bryan's sister Lisa since she is 6 months pregnant and did not want to go sledding. So that was nice to have some time to go with Bryan. Then she came outside for a while and took some pictures! It was a good old time!!!

So that has been what I have done the last couple of days...
And now I am looking forward to setting some new goal for myself and Bryan for the new year. I usually sit down and write myself a letter and seal it up until the next year. I forgot to do that last year and now I am regretting it. So that is what we're going to do for FHE come Monday night. That is my goal anyway. We will have to see if it happens.

thanks for all your support and being patient with me while I have been a slacker on posting. Love you all. Until next time.

Short but sweet!

So I have not posted anything in a while and I have a lot to catch up on...Some people have told me that Christmas has come and gone and I have not posted anything...Well, family from Bryan's side is still in town until Monday the 1st and so things have been quite hectic trying to keep them entertained....So I will post this...Gingerbread houses were fun to do, but really TOO much work for me...I would rather buy the kit than make them from scratch. And we got about 3 feet of snow a week ago and now tonight we are supposed to get another foot before we have even really recovered from the first storm. And Kambria had her first snow experience. I will be explaining more about them come next Tuesday when the schedules go back to normal. And pictures should come along with them too. I am sorry for all my faithful readers who have been waiting for something from me. Hopefully this will last for a while!
Until next time...

Christmas here we come!

So the past 4 days have been nothing but getting ready for x-mas. Monday, Bryan and I decided we wanted to make gingerbread houses for family home evening. Little did we realize that it is truly a 3 day activity; one day to make the gingerbread and bake it, then let it sit overnight to harden, day 2 to put it together and sit overnight to harden again, and day 3 to decorate. So the first gingerbread house we made was not very good. So we tried again. Tonight is the night that we get to decorate the houses...So tomorrow you should see a picture of them all completed...Bryan even says he wants to post them so Brady can be jealous!...Sorry Brady...Bryan just gets jealous of all the wonderful cooking you do! We think it is great!

And last night we went Christmas shopping for Lisa and Eric since they are coming by plane and have limited room for presents...It was fun. I have wrapped all my gifts and they are under Bryan and I's fake tree...Since Don and MaryEllen could not find a real one they liked, for a price they like they used our fake one this year. I am glad that we could help in the festivities. MaryEllen commented that she thought it would be fun to have gifts under the tree before Christmas eve, like she always has. I guess that is when she gets around to wrapping the presents. It should be fun to watch the cats and hopefully not have them tear the presents open before Christmas. Bryan and I are ready for Christmas this year...Since it is Kambria's first Christmas. She does not really understand what is going on, but it is fun for us to watch her experience it.
Well until the gingerbread houses are complete....

crazy times

I have not written in a while, and for all my faithful readers I am sorry. I do not have a lot to say other than holiday times are BUSY! And I am not even THAT busy. I just think it is all in my brain. I do not know if any one else feels this way, but I think that I feel busy because there is a lot of hussle and bussle about. I am trying to remember the the TRUE meaning of christmas and keeping my thoughts in check. I am more in the mood of gift giving than gift reciving, but it still does not seem like Christ is quite in the center of it all...I am working on it!

Well like I said not much happening. Just everyday doing the same old same old...eat sleep and take care of Kambria...that takes all my time.

Until next time
