weekend fun

So this weekend we decided to get out a pool and let Kambria experience "swimming." Of course she is not really swimming, but just splashing, it is none the less, her first swim suit wearing experience! While everyone one else went and saw the movie Shrek the third, I watched Kambria and Hayden, since Bryan was working and I did not want to go to the movie without him. Plus it gave Nelson and Leah a movie to watch without have=ing to worry about watching Hayden! Bryan and I will probably see the movie this weekend. Otherwise we would have had to pay almost 10 bucks a ticket since it would have been at night ...so we decided to wait until Bryan could go during the day.

So here are some pics of the kids swimming. That is all for now....

SOAP!!

So tonight was supposed to be a relaxed and calm night...it has turned out that way in the end, but getting there was not so much.

Bryan started out the night with a sinus head ache that he could not get rid of. So he was laying down on the couch resting after talking to his family about this weekends plan. I was watching Kambria crawl ALL over the place trying to keep her from climbing up the stairs...Yes, that is right she is already climbing the stairs!

So my mom's car was broken into a couple of weeks ago and her CD player was stolen. So my dad took her car into the shop to get a new one put in tonight. So my mom went to go pick him up since it was supposed to take about an hour to install. The phone rings and it is my dad and mom is not there to pick up dad and she does not have her cell phone with her... she does this quite regularly...I think it is just a matter of teaching that generation sometimes...or she does not want to be able to be reached. Any way, dad is calling to see where she is and then I turn around an Kambria has spilled a ENTIRE bottle of dish washing soap all over herself and the floor. It is a refill bottle so it is big and is EXTRA potent!!! I am freaking out that she did not get any in her mouth and I came to the conclusion that since she is not screaming she probably did not. I scream for Bryan's help and he goes running for the camera...sorry no pictures were taken.

Instead I run Kambria upstairs and throw her in the bathtub. And then Bryan with video camera in hand decides that he does not feel so well still and is going to throw up!!!! Poor guy, but I am grateful that he was next to the toilet when he did so. So I take Kambria back downstairs to put her PJ's on and put her to bed. When down comes Bryan, looking paler than ever. I put both of them to bed and had to go clean up the wonderful "CLEAN" mess Kambria made!

Now I sit here with the two people who I love dearly, but who made this night most interesting, asleep in bed! I am finally calm and able to write it all down fro memories sake! ;o)

WICKED!!!!

WOW. When do we get to go again? So, if any of you know what I am talking about when I say "Wicked" then you know that it is only the best new musical ever!!!!!!!! This past Wednesday Eliza and I went to see the Broadway musical Wicked at the Buell Theater. What a treat! We have been waiting for some time, being that we purchased the tickets last year. Wicked had come to Denver almost two years ago and it was sold out by the time we heard we should go see it, so when we heard it was coming back we made sure we got tickets. This was still when we didn't know where we would be living, or even if it was in Colorado, (but we said "where ever we are we will make it back to Denver to see the show). It was sure nice to be right here in Denver with only a 15 minute drive to the theater.

So for those of you who aren't familiar with the story of Wicked, here is a brief synopsis. In a nut shell, it is the story of how the Wicked Witch of the West becomes wicked. "Glinda, the good witch is still there, but what, the musical inquires, is goodness after all? The main action revolves around Elphaba, the so-called wicked witch. Elphaba proves the popular adage that, indeed, it's not easy being green. Born a lovely shade of jade, she is misunderstood, shunned and persecuted, While this naturally takes its toll the question remains: is she evil? The answer is as ambiguous as her name. Elphaba and Glinda's unlikely friendship illustrates the fact that it's not simply trying to figure out which witch is which. The idea behind Wicked is that things are not as they seem."

From the music, to the sets, to the special effects, this musical is a MUST SEE!!!! Eliza and I have just fallen in love with everything about Wicked. We especially liked how they tied everything into the movie, "The Wizard of Oz"...you know, the Lion, Scarecrow, and Tinman...it is so neat to see how they came to be and why they share the fairy tale fate they do.

So if you ever get the chance to see Wicked, take it...and let us know so we can come too!!

Mother's day report

So it has been requested to write how mother's day went. first of all, it was a GREAT day! My first official mothers day! We got breakfast burritos since we had some people staying at the house form Tess' choir concert. They were college girls from CA and we offered them to stay at our house before my mother realized it was mother's day. but it turned out all ok.

Then we went to church and left right after taking the sacrament...because Colin was going to call from Argentina! And he did...right on time! it was so good to hear from him and to see how much he has grown in just 6 weeks time. He sounds happy!

Then we did mother's day presents...I received Crocs sandals...except mine are the charcoal and sea foam colors instead of these...

Willow figurine called angel of spring

And eye shadow!

It was great day!

Crazy driver!!!

Well it has been a while since I posted, so I thought I would tell my funny and somewhat scary story. So Bryan's little sister Amanda plays soccer for her high school varsity team. They came to Denver to play in the state playoffs and so Bryan's parents come down to Denver and we all went to watch. Unfortunately they lost by one point after an EXTREMELY LONG game. Rocky, that is Amanda's high school, scored a point within the first couple minutes of the game. Then in the second half Cherry Creek scored a point. Then the game had to go into overtime for 15 minutes. No one scored, so another 15 minutes of overtime. Still no one scored. So they went to a shoot out. 5 kickers from each team one at a time against the goalie. They each scored 3 more points. So they went into sudden death. Cherry Creek scored and then we scored. They missed and then we missed, until they scored and Amanda was up to be the next kicker! She placed the ball so wonderfully in the top right hand corner of the goal...only to hit the post and bounce back out!!!!! AGH!!! so they lost the game. What a hard way to lose!!! We still love you Amanda!

So after the game we went out to dinner with Bryan's parents to Chipotle. It was good. So after dinner we get on the freeway and then we get a call from Bryan's dad that the freeway is closed. Bryan did not relay the message quick enough for me to get the next exit so we got stuck in traffic! We sat on the over pass for 10 minutes and did not move!!! So next thing I know we are moving a little bit and come to the point where the on ramp connects with the highway. I then start seeing people backing down the on ramp. So I decide to do it!!!! Bryan thought I was crazy and let me just tell you, I AM NOT A GOOD BACKWARDS DRIVER!!! I was swerving here and there and to make matters worse Kambria was screaming and so that made me even more tense. Then cars started coming up the on ramp while I am trying to back down it! I am definitely NOT Mater from the movie "Cars", for those of you who have seen it. We finally made it down the on ramp and I made a quick turn around while the lights were red for on coming cars and we then headed south bound on the freeway.

Then when we pulled up to our driveway with Kambria asleep and everything "back" to normal we got a call form Don, Bryan's dad, that they reopened the freeway and they were on their way home! I was SO glad that I drive backwards on the on ramp rather waiting 45 minutes for it to reopen! I was glad to be home!

But it was a fun day and turned out all right. So enough for now!
