Day 3 in chicago

So on day 3, we woke up trying to get ready to go take Bryan to the Evanston campus, only to be running a little behind schedule. We walked out to the car and Bryan noticed right away that the drivers side back tire was FLAT! yep, FLAT...i started to say, we have to change it...but Bryan thought it would be OK to drive down to the gas station and fill it up...So we did. There was a gas station just down from the motel so we went and filled it up. We thought it would be ok enough to drive him to campus and then I would call the 1-800 number for budget road side assistance. Well we drove with our instructions to the hotel were they were going to be walking from to the campus and since we were behind schedule we missed them. Good thing we had instructions to the actual campus building...and along the way took a fellow classmate who has a prosthetic leg and was going to take a cab. So it worked out fine. But I still had a flat tire I was in charge of getting fixed. So and Kambria and I went back to the motel and got ready. We called the 1-800 number and they said that it would take 2-3 hours to get to us because they were behind schedule. So Cheryl, that was the lady's name, said we could get it fixed and then they would reimburse us when we turned the car back in rather that having to go exchange the car for another one. So I said I would go have it fixed and would keep the receipt. So I took it to a shop down the rode from the motel and walked around Walgreen's while it got fixed. The total was $27.80...the end of this story is to come later.

So we then went and found a playground to play on rather than having Kambria sit in a stroller all day again.

Don't worry the drop at the end of the video looks worse than it was. She had a great time playing!

So then we got a phone call from Bryan around 2:30 that he was done early. We were so excited. So we picked him up and figured out the train/bus schedules and went to find the Sears tower in downtown again. It was really amazing seeing the whole setup and being that high...170 stories to be exact!

It only took 60 seconds for the elevator to get there too. Quite the ride. I was popping my ears every couple of seconds. A little nervous at the beginning it being so high and all, but once we got to the top and I saw it was all enclosed, I was fine.

When we were done with the Sears tower...which by the way started out to be just a place to house all Sears and Roebuck's company employees...we decided to go to dinner. We wanted to go somewhere with deep dish Chicago style pizza. we found a place called Diorganos. We had to sit and wait a while before someone even came to take our order. And then on top pf that we had to wait 35 minutes for the pizza to be cooked...they say that right at the very beginning so there are no expectations...
This is Kambria feeding herself fried zucchini..she just at the zucchini part mostly. Bryan figured if we had to wait that long for the pizza we should get Kambria something to eat, since she probably would not be awake for much longer. It was a good idea too...

This is what the deep dish pizza looked like..the sauce and cheese don't touch! The sauce is on the top and the cheese and "stuff" are in the middle. This is Kambria asleep on the bench at the restaurant. She was exhausted! Thank goodness Bryan thought ahead about the fried zucchini...

Soon after we got the pizza we realized it was getting late and the trains only rain until 10:20pm and it was already 9pm...the trains take an hour to get where we needed to catch the next train. So we asked for the bill and left in a hurry.

We rode the red line train north and we a little concerned that we would not make the transfer to the yellow line. Well we got off the red line at 10:15 and asked the conductor, as he was leaving the station to go home, if there was another yellow line train,...he said yes, there is one more. OH!!!! we were SO lucky!!! We ended up being the only ones on that entire train! God was watching out for us! This was the second time, the first being the flat tire in the motel parking lot, of several experiences where we knew we were being watched out for! So we made it back to the train station and drove our Hyundai back to the motel to go to bed in anticipation for the next exciting day in Chicago...since we hadn't had all the fun we could possibly handle yet.
